Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 4 Limited Edition of 20 Pieces

Ref. HCOMDT47WZ001
The case, in 18kt polished white gold and Zalium with DLC treatment (case band, arches,

lugs and tourbillon bezel) measures 47mm x 21.7mm.

Both crystals are sapphire and it is water resistant to 30 meters.
The three-dimensional dial has a black gold finish, with apertures on the movement,

black galvanic flange and appliques. Black and silver applied hours,

minutes and power-reserve indicator with horizontal satin-brushed counters centers.

Engraved, black galvanic "HW" emerald logo at the center of the hours counter

and indeces filled with black, grey, orange and blue varnish.
Movement is the Swiss manual-wind, Harry Winston in-house, patented, caliber HW4501.

It measures 40.4mm x 17.3mm. It is a tri-axial tourbillon. It is made of 345 pieces,

134 of which are for the tourbillon (which weighs 1.5grams). Functions are: hours,

minutes, 300 seconds indication on the tourbillon and power reserve complication.
It has 59 jewels, beats at 21,600 vph and has a power reserve of 50 hours.  

It has twin barrels in rapid rotation (one turn in 3.2 hours) and one barrel is equipped

with a slipping spring to avoid excess tension.

The variable-inertia balance wheel has 18 gold adjustment screws.

The balance spring features a Phillips curve and a Geneva-type stud.
The main plate is titanium, micro-blasted, hand-chamfered and PVD treated.

The bridges are titanium, polished, hand-chamfered and PVD treated.

It also has a polished gold, hand-chamfered intermediate carriage bridge.

The tourbillon has an internal carriage containing the balance spring and

the escapement pinion with a rotating cycle of 45 seconds;  

Intermediate carriage rotating cycle of 75 seconds; External carriage rotating cycle of 300 seconds.

The carriage pillars are done in titanium, with circular graining, and are PVD treated.
The strap is hand-sewn black alligator with an 18kt white gold double-ardillon buckle.

A collection of rare timepieces launched in 2009,

Histoire de Tourbillon embodies Harry Winston’s visionary spirit

and determination to explore new dimensions. The collection combines technical sophistication

and fine design in a daring and distinctive manner, expressing an original vision

of horological history and asserting a new signature style.

This year, for its second edition, the House of Harry Winston is paying tribute

to the undisputed star of complications with an exclusive new timepiece issued

in a 20-piece limited series. Featuring an ingenious construction that makes light

of established conventions and includes a bi-axial flying tourbillon,

Histoire de Tourbillon 2 offers its very own interpretation of time measurement.

An avant-garde interpretation in which technology serves design

and confirms the pioneering spirit of Harry Winston.

In tune with the inimitable Harry Winston style, Histoire de Tourbillon 2

transforms creative freedom into a full-fledged vocation.

The brand’s signature excentered look is expressed in a resolutely atypical manner

that pushes the boundaries of conception and design.

From the tourbillon coupled with running seconds at 9 o’clock,

to the hours with day/night indication at 2 o’clock and the minutes at 6 o’clock,

all the displays are isolated in independent offset subdials.

Each has its own field of expression in a case that is cleverly partitioned

to form several different levels. Eight sapphire crystals

(five on the dial side of which three for the time indications, and three on the case-back)

punctuate the case like windows to a futuristic world in which technology forges the passing of time.

The strength and intensity emanating from the watch are reinforced

by a monumental white gold structure measuring 48.5 mm in diameter.

Powered by a mechanical hand-wound movement exclusively developed for Harry Winston,

Histoire de Tourbillon 2 showcases the supreme complication in a setting worthy of its stature.

The intricate structure of the amazing bi-axial flying tourbillon immediately catches the eye.

Embodying a daunting conceptual challenge characterized by the absence of an upper bridge,

the tourbillon is held on the side of the movement only, so that its point of fixation remains invisible.

Suspended in mid-air, it radiates the hypnotic magic of a perfectly controlled balancing game:

as if released from the mechanism driving it, it appears to be floating in complete freedom.

Hovering over the watch protected by its sapphire crystal dome,

this watchmaking feat plays its role within a spacious and spectacular stage-setting.

Designers have worked with perspective, height and sloping angles in creating

the stunning tourbillon carriage with its fascinating sense of depth.

The technical complexity does not stop there: the bi-axial flying tourbillon

combines two concentric carriages and gains added precision by enabling

the regulating organ to perform multidimensional rotations.

The striking visual effect is created by an outer carriage completing one full turn

in 120 seconds and housing an internal carriage – holding the balance,

balance spring and escapement – that revolves in just 40 seconds.

The circular-grained, polished and shotpeened finishes, hand-crafted in keeping

with the noblest fine watchmaking traditions, highlight the tourbillon components

in an extraordinary contrast between light and dark shades. Moreover,

behind the stunning vision of this aerial ballet lies excellent rating precision,

enhanced not only by the constant shifting of positions, but also by the lightness

and resistance of the external titanium carriage. Distinguished by a three-level bezel,

in itself an outstanding accomplishment in terms of guaranteeing water resistance,

the case meticulously compartmentalizes the various timekeeping indications.

While the tourbillon plays the starring role, the hours and minutes appear

in their respective subdials at 2 and 6 o’clock and feature a bold, ultra-contemporary design.

Underscored by a beveled inner bezel ring, they are swept over by orange-accented hands

standing out clearly against the opaline black dial background. Further enhancing readability,

the day/night indications can be told apart by their color: orange for day, and blue for night.

Finally, two additional dial apertures set the finishing touch to the decidedly masculine aesthetic

of this model with a straight-line guilloché motif. Superlative design meets cutting-edge technology

in this supremely elegant model radiating perfect visual equilibrium despite the excentered displays.

Harry Winston Project Z6 - Limited Edition of 300 Pieces

Featuring a zalium case – a material used exclusively in watchmaking

by Harry Winston the Project Z6 announces the arrival of a new complication

in the collection: a 24-hour alarm on a hand-wound movement specially developed

for this timepiece and exclusive to Harry Winston.

Adjusted by the crown, the striking-mechanism for the alarm

is activated by a trigger at 4 o’clock. The hammer, which is fixed to the case,

can be admired through an opening on the dial,

while the solid rectangular gong produces optimal resonance.

Thanks to its two barrels – one for the movement, the other for the

striking-mechanism – Project Z6 has a 72-hour power reserve.

And matching the complexity of the 18-level movement,

the off-centre dial reveals two overlapping disks that display

the time and the alarm’s striking-mechanism.

The hand-wound movement has 45 jewels (340 components total),

Côtes de Genève decoration, hand-chamfered bridges, and a 72 hour power reserve.

Functions are hours, minutes, small seconds, alarm, double day/night hour indicator

The Zalium (zirconium-based alloy) case measures 44mm and has a sapphire crystal.

It is water resistant to 100 meters.

The flying tourbillon, which turns once on its own axis every 60 seconds,

appears to be floating completely free in space, with no visible connection

to any gear train. The illusion is complete when the same tourbillon cage starts

to perform a second rotation at a rate of one turn every five minutes.

The case, in platinum, measures 45mm. It had double AR-coated sapphire crystals

and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The crown, in platinum, is set with a sapphire cabochon.
Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Cartier in-house caliber 9454MC with 25 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 52 hours. It is a double mystery tourbillon hallmarked with the Geneva Seal.The dial is slate-colored, galvanised, guillochéd, silvered open-work grill with sunray efect, black transferred Roman numerals with sword-shaped hands done in blued steel.

The strap is black alligator with double adjustable folding buckle in 18kt white gold.

For the first time, the "stained-glass" enamelling technique by master enameller

Dominique Baron is used for the Lady Arpels Extraordinary Butterfly series

to depict the movements of butterflies on a three-dimensional dial.

he case style was designed by Pierre Arpels in 1949 behind the famous PA 49 timepiece.

The simple design of the center buckle better brings out the richness and

extravagance of the dial. The wearer can also enjoy the private view

of the excellent carvings on the back of the watch case.

that shows both the time of day or night and a full array of calendarical data.
The date is indicated by a hand which culminates in a little red crescent that sweeps

The classical design of the TimeWalker Voyager UTC shows the time in a second zone

and is unmistakably inspired by the styling of the TimeWalker ChronoVoyager UTC chronograph,

which was recently launched with great success.
The 42mm-diameter stainless steel case with a narrow stainless steel

or satin-finished titanium bezel leaves plenty of room for a simple and tidy dial,

the design of which is entirely subordinated to its function. The broad flange or

réhaut around the dial bears the 24-hour scale for a freely selectable second time zone;

pale- and dark-coloured zones on the scale enable it to simultaneously serve as a day/night indicator.

The red tip of an extra-long skeletonised hour-hand sweeps along this scale to show the time in the currently selected second zone.
The smaller hour-hand indicates the local time, i.e. the hour in the zone where the wearer is presently sojourning.

The minute-hand and second-hand are valid for both time zones.

When the crown is withdrawn to its first extracted position, the hand for the second time zone

Montblanc's TimeWalker Hemispheres are a very special kind of world-time watches,

which simultaneously show the different times in all 24 of the world's time zones.
The local time in the zone where the wearer is currently sojourning is shown by the hands,

while the flange around the dial bears the names of 24 cities, each of which represents

one of the 24 time zones into which our planet is divided.
A 24-hour disc indicating the hours at the locations positioned radially opposite

the disc's markings on the flange turns at the centre of the dial. Presto!

The wearer can instantly see which hour has chimed on clocks in all of the world's time zones.

That explains the functional principle of the mechanical Montblanc

While the time zones progress with the sun from east to west across the meridians of longitude,

Montblanc's latest creation also brings the north-south axis into play

because the Montblanc TimeWalker World-Time Hemispheres is available in a northern

and a southern version. The Northern Hemisphere model shows a map

of the Earth as seen from the north with the North Pole at its centre;

the Southern Hemisphere variant puts the South Pole in the midpoint.
Logically, the ring of place names on the Northern Hemisphere model consists

the 24-hour disc on the Southern Hemisphere timepiece turns anticlockwise and bears a 24 hour scale labelled clockwise.

The two TimeWalker World-Time Hemispheres models differ not only

because of their different dials, but also because they're equipped with different movements,

which are necessary to rotate the 24-hour discs of the two timepieces in the proper directions.

To assure that the wearer can keep an eye on the entire planet, from east to west

and from north to south, the Northern Hemisphere watch bears the southern place names

on its case back and vice versa.The stainless steel case measures 42mm in diameter

and has a very narrow bezel, thus leaving ample room for large and readily legible indicators:

a time-zone ring with the 24 place names, an hour circle with the TimeWalker's typical relief numerals

and indices, a 24-hour disc in the centre (where it turns clockwise in the one model

Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Silicon Escapement

Limited Edition of 25 Pieces

This hand-wound movement indicates the hours and the minutes,

displays the current date via a rotating disc and a motionless hand,

and indicates the chronograph’s functions on a counter for 60 elapsed

seconds at the 7 o’clock position and a counter for 30 elapsed minutes

at the 4 o’clock. The chronograph is operated by pressing a pusher

in the flank of the case at the 8 o’clock position: this button acts via a column wheel

to trigger the start, stop and return-to-zero functions.

Thanks to nearly wear-free vertical coupling, the chronograph can

remain permanently switched on, if desired.

The remaining power reserve is displayed on the rearward side of the watch,

where it can be viewed through the sapphire crystal

in the back of the case. The new movement and its innovative silicon

escapement are ensconced inside an 18kt rose gold case that measures 43mm

in diameter and has sapphire crystals above the dial and in the back.

A readily grasped, knurled, rose gold crown is inlaid with the Montblanc emblem

and can be used to wind the mainsprings and to set the time and the calendar display.

Montblanc Villeret 1858 Vintage Chronograph

The new Montblanc Collection Villeret 1858 boasts a spirally shaped

tachymeter scale in the center of its dial. A coiled scale of this kind

was a typical and frequent feature on the legendary Minerva chronographs

from the 1910s and 1930s. The periphery of the Vintage’s dial was reserved

for the telemeter scale, so the tachymeter scale was shifted into the center,

where it was coiled like a snail’s shell so that it would be long enough to be used

for tachymeter measurements up to three minutes in duration.

Movement is the Montblanc Manufacture caliber 16.29, a column-wheel chronograph movement. It oscillates at 18,000 A/h (2.5 hertz); has a balance-spring

with a Philips terminal curve; a Swan’s Neck fine adjustment mechanism;

a V-shaped chronograph-bridge; a manually beveled and finely finished chronograph-lever,

and classical horizontal coupling.

The case, in platinum or in 18kt white gold, measures 47mm.

This new model has a large central axial minute-hand, a distinct hour display,

an indicator for the time in a second time zone (with day/night display),

a subdial for the seconds, a chronograph with a counter for 30 elapsed minutes,

and a tourbillon with a balance larger than the tourbillon’s rotating cage

and positioned outside it.

The balance has been separated from the cage to isolate it from the disturbing

movements of the escapement.

This separation made it possible to create the world’s first tourbillon

in which the rotating cage is smaller than the balance,

which oscillates outside the cage and on a higher plane.

This architecture also inspired the watch’s name, which includes the Greek prefix exo,

meaning outside.The balance in this unconventional configuration

is borne between two jewels - it is neither cantilevered (“flying”)

nor is it borne between two bridges - while the tourbillon turns

at the foot of the axis in a two-point bearing.

The material used for the monobloc case/caseback - carbon nanotubes -

enables this ultra light weight. The movement is attached to the case

by four braided steel cables, held taught by tensioners

(found at 3 and 9 o'clock) and pulleys.

Limited Edition of 30 Pieces for the Americas

Richard Mille unveils a new limited edition of his automatic diver’s vatch exclusively

for retailers in North and South America.

The RM 028 Americas comes in a dark black DLC titanium case

with red and white numerals and hands, and a bright red inner bezel

and rubber crown protector. It measures 47mm x 14.6mm.

The RM 028 adheres to diver’s watch ISO norms 6425

with its water resistance of 300 meters (30 ATM) and a unidirectional bezel.

This level of water resistance is achieved with a three part case construction

and 22 torque screws, with complete integration of the lugs into the case system.

This configuration prevents any accidental dislodging of the bezel from its case while diving.

The skeletonized automatic movement of the RM 028 utilizes a rotor

with variable geometry, a major innovation of Richard Mille that allows

the level of automatic winding to be adjusted to the user’s lifestyle

via the setting of two 18kt white gold wings.

MSRP is $82,000.
